Tacoma
Tacoma is a port city along the Puget Sound that is renowned throughout the world for its glass art. It serves as the seat of Pierce County and the business center of the entire South Sound region. From Tacoma, Seattle is approximately 35 miles away.

- Tacoma derives its name from Mount Rainier, which was originally called Tahoma or Tacoma.
- Public schools in Tacoma are overseen by Tacoma Public Schools. There are also several private schools in the city as well as universities and colleges, including the University of Puget Sound.
- Spaces devoted to arts and culture are plenty in Tacoma. Chief among these is the Museum of Glass. It is part of the Museum District, along with the Washington State History Museum and the Tacoma Art Museum.
- For outdoor recreation, Tacomans head to the 760-acre Point Defiance Park. It is home to several other attractions such as the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium.
