Renton
Renton is one of Seattle’s most sought-after suburbs. Located in King County, it sits on the shores of Lake Washington with Cedar River coursing through the city. An economic powerhouse, Renton is home to several large companies such as Boeing and IKEA.
Living in Renton
- Prior to European settlement, the area known today as Renton was part of the local Native Americans’ salmon fishing grounds. Settlers began arriving in the 1860s.
- Renton is divided into five areas: Downtown Renton, North Renton, Northeast Renton, Southwest Renton, and Southeast Renton.
- Renton School District operates the public schools in the area. Some parts of Renton, however, are also served by Issaquah School District, Kent School District, and Tahoma School District.
