Mercer Island

Mercer Island is, as its name implies, an island city located in the south waters of Lake Washington. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area and King County. Two floating bridges connect Mercer Island to the mainland, with Seattle only a short drive away.

Living in Mercer Island

  • Mercer Island’s first settlers arrived sometime between 1870 and 1880. It was named after the Mercer family.
  • There are seven schools in Mercer Island, all of which are managed by the Mercer Island School District.
  • A sizable chunk of Mercer Island is dedicated green space. Pioneer Park is one of the largest, covering over 100 acres of deciduous forest. Popular recreational activities in Mercer Island include horseback riding and biking.
